Peter Hale, G4OAD - Silent Key

Sad news.

Peter Hale, G4OAD became a Silent Key 24th August 2010, aged 82 years. He leaves his wife Vera and sons Simon and Kevin.

Peter’s funeral will be at 09.30hrs, Thurs 9th Sept at Pitsea Crematorium,  Church Road, Bowers Gifford, Basildon, Essex SS13 2HG. All welcome.

The family have requested there be no flowers, donations instead please to Essex Air Ambulance. The wake will be for family only.

Many of you will remember Peter as an excellent CW Operator. He taught many hams morse and was an RSGB CW Adjudicator for many years.

After a break of some years he returned to Amateur Radio and my first QSO with him was on 2M FM from Rayleigh Windmill to his home in Shotgate. He came to the next South Essex Amateur Radio Society meeting. His enthusiasm was exceptional. We both became active Members of SEARS and CARS and members of Essex Repeater Group.  He was also a member of the daily 12 to 1pm CW net on 145.250. We became great friends. Last year he joined me on SEARS Committee. A fine role model for Amateur Radio who will be greatly missed.

Norman, M0FZW
SEARS Hon Secretary.
