Southgate Amateur Radio Club RSS News Feed - Newsreaders

In order to display RSS feeds, you are going to need a newsreader. If you don't already have a newsreader, you can get a simple, but very effective one completely free-of-charge from Firstobject.com. Start by downloading the file fonr10.zip from Firstobject.com.

Once downloaded, you just need to unzip the file, then click on the file fonr.exe

The program will start and a box similar to the one on the right will appear. In the dialogue box at the top, type in the path to the Southgate Club's rss file, which is:

http://www.southgatearc.org/sarc.rss

Then click the Add button on the right.

A line should then appear in the box below.
Now just double-click on that line to display the latest items from our website.

Right clicking on that line also shows various options, including how often your news reader checks our RSS feed for new items.

On websites offering RSS news feeds, you will see the XML logo shown on the left. These are normally displayed alongside a description of the news feed (if there are more than one). BBC News has an excellent selection of xml news feeds.

Right-click on the xml logo of the feed that you are interested in, then click on Copy Shortcut. Now click in the top box of your news reader and paste the feed into it.
Finally, click on Add to complete the process. That's it. You're all set. Now, whenever a new item is added at any of the websites that you've selected, a message box will appear at the bottom of your screen with the details, and a link to take you directly to that page.
