The AMSAT-UK Amateur Satellite Notable Event Competition
1. The aim of the competition is to get ideas from the international
amateur radio satellite community for a series of special issue stamps
to be issued by the Royal Mail.
2. The Royal Mail is the national postal system
for the United Kingdom. They regularly produce a special series of postage
stamps illustrating events or themes.
Some recent events and themes have been stream locomotives, "The
Lord of the Rings", Woodland Animals, etc etc. Further examples can

receptive for ideas for special issue stamps, and they need 10 designs
for a series.
3. Entries for the competition should contain the following:
a) A short title of no more that approx 6 words
b) A short description of the event of no longer than 4 sentences
c) A graphic. This can be either an original design, a picture, photograph,
etc The graphic should either be in the public domain, or one that the
copyright owner is likely to give permission for publication. More than
one graphic may be submitted
d) The owner and contact details of any copyright.
e) The name and contact details of the entrant.
4. Format of entries. Entries should be formatted as one event
per A4 page. Entrants may submit as many pages as they like, preferably
in electronic format, MS Word, MS Publisher, BMP, GIF, JPG. Alternatively
a printed version (A4) format may be handed in at the AMSAT UK Colloquium
on 30 Jul - 1 Aug 2004. They may be emailed to g3wgm@amsat.org

5. Judging. The entries will be displayed at the AMSAT UK Colloquium,
and judged by the AMSAT-UK committee. The decision of the committee will
be final. The judges will take the following into account:
a) Originality
b) Quality of graphic
c) Suitability to appear on a special issue stamp
d) Relevance to the Amateur Satellite Service
6. A small cash prize will be awarded to the three best entries.
The best 10 entries will be submitted to the Royal Mail and proposed as
designs for a special issue stamp series.
7. It is a condition of entry that entrants consent to their entry
being;
a) Exhibited at the AMSAT-UK Colloquium
b) Displayed, with their name/callsign on the AMSAT-UK Web site
c) Submitted to the Royal Mail
8. Individuals may submit multiple entries. Entries are invited
from any individual who does not have to be a member of AMSAT, a UK citizen,
or a radio amateur.
9. The closing date for entries is midnight 31 July 2004
